Transportation to/from airport to/from hotel:

San Antonio International Airport is approximately eight miles from El Tropicano Riverwalk Hotel

Taxis: Taxi cabs are available at the lower level curbside, outside of baggage claim, at Terminal 1 and at the front curbside of Terminal 2 just outside baggage claim. A taxi ride to the hotel will cost $20 to $22.

Call for Session Presentation Proposals

The 2009 TAA Conference on Text and Academic Authoring will be held in San Antonio, TX, Thursday June 25, Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27. This year’s conference will offer two concurrent tracks, one for textbook authors and one for academic authors, as well as sessions that appeal to both. The conference will also offer several moderated Roundtable Discussions, mentoring sessions, and plenty of opportunities for networking.

TAA is seeking proposals for 30-minute and 60-minute sessions that would appeal to textbook authors,
academic authors (authors of journal articles, dissertations, grants, scholarly books, etc), and both groups.

Deadline for proposals is November 15, 2008.

Information for presenters and moderators:
• Presenters who plan to stay for the entire conference must pay full conference registration.
• Presenters are responsible for providing copies of their handout materials.
• Presenters are responsible for their own travel and lodging costs for attending the conference.

Overview of online publishing industry, which publishers are legitimate, which to avoid, copyright protection, making sure your work stays your own and not claimed by your university

"E-books: Are They the Future?"
(Will they REALLY replace print books or will they just be a second option; the differences between authoring e-books and printed books; how to create an e-book; how they work; how do e-book royalty fees work)
