Well-Known Biology Author Dies

Neil A. Campbell, best known for his introductory college biology textbook, Biology, died Oct. 21 of heart failure. He was 58. It is estimated that more than four million students worldwide have used Biology. Campbell was also co -founder of Peregrine Publishers, acquired by Pearson Education in 1998.

UMASS Begins Textbook Rental Process

The University of Massachusetts Student Government Association announced that it will be going forward with creating a campus textbook rental system. The system could be in place by next fall.

Deadline Approaching for Advertising in TAA Newsletter

Texty, McGuffey Nomination Deadline Extended

TAA has extended the nomination deadline for Texty, McGuffey nominations to November 15 to accommodate some publishers. The seven complimentary copies and fees still need to be at headquarters by December 15. To download the nominations forms, click here.

Council of Fellows Applications Due November 30

TAA is now accepting applications to the Council of Fellows, which honors distinguished authors who have a long record of successful and diversified publications. Any author whose textbooks or academic articles have established his/her presence in their field over time and who has been innovative in the presentation of material may apply. Fellows are provided with special engraved medallions upon induction. They also receive free lifetime membership in TAA. Applications are due November 30, 2004. They should be sent to TAA, P.O.
